PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project is a summer tale. A tale of a special summer, though as it’s the summer of a girl right in the middle of her 12th and 13th year of life: once in a lifetime.
It is midsummer, the time of year in which nature flourishes under the warm sun. It’s about moments of daily life, human connections, love and dreams. It’s about the land and our heritages, as we travel between The Netherlands, where she was born and raised, and Italy, my home country and where we like to spend part of our summers.
Finally, it’s about transformation. From childhood to womanhood: a slow, transforming and universal process, which suddenly becomes evident to our eyes. The girl is my daughter, making this project I chose under DAH’s mentoring a personal project close to my heart. I see it now as an ongoing project, a diary of our summertime until adulthood comes.
